36 miles - The Pilates Advantage

Empower Your Run

Yes, this is what the end of 36 miles looks like!!

That is a very very long way. In my practice run, when I ran 36 miles, one person drove past me 6 times and eventually stopped and asked me - you have been running all day and I’ve passed you 6 times - where are you going?

Home was the short answer - but the long one in between breaths was I’m practising for 36 miles.

Yes, this picture is me a few years ago.

You will see I’m leaning forward - most of us would after 36 miles - so I’m giving myself a break - but the reason I could stand up straight, as that is what you need to do to run 36 miles is because of Pilates.

I can’t rave enough about how Pilates, is more than just an exercise regime, it acts as a cornerstone for building core strength, optimizing posture, and refining balance. Its profound impact on the body's center—specifically, the transverse abdominis, often heralded as the body's natural corset—translates into remarkable benefits for runners.

Imagine each stride powered by a stronger core, where the stability of your spine and the fluidity of your movements converge to elevate your running experience.

Pilates teaches us to engage our core, harnessing the strength of the transverse muscle to not only improve our posture but to make each step more efficient and less prone to injury.

So, if you are a runner and have not tired Pilates give it a go.

Incorporate Pilates into your training regime - because it doesn't just bolster your physical prowess; it redefines it. You'll notice a shift in how you stand, walk, and most importantly, run. The enhanced core strength allows for a more upright running form, reducing the strain on the lower back and legs. This alignment and balance minimize the risk of common running injuries, ensuring that you can pursue your passion with fewer setbacks.

Make Pilates your ally on the running trail. As you strengthen your core, you'll discover not just an increase in endurance but a profound transformation in how you move through the world. Feel the power of your strides, grounded in strength, and stride towards your personal best with confidence.

Give me a shout if you want to talk running and Pilates.

I began my design career by winning a scholarship to study at Shillington College on their famous graphic design course. My aesthetic is fresh, sophisticated and clean. I work as a freelance designer and have helped numerous companies express themselves visually through brand guidelines, web design, print layout, logos and brand assets.

Before following my dream to be a designer I worked for several years in architecture, strategy consultancy and running major historic building renovation programmes. This background supports my design career enormously - it means I understand the drivers behind my clients needs and I ask the right questions to help understand the design brief. Having managed large architectural design projects I’m also a project management aficionado, and providing great customer service comes second nature to me.
