Specialised pilates classes

overview

At my studio, I offer a variety of Pilates classes to accommodate different fitness levels and goals.

As well as reformer and mat Pilates classes I offer specialised classes like Pilates for Runners to focus on enhancing running performance. At the same time, Pilates for Older Adults offers safe, supportive sessions to improve balance and strength, and Pilates for Motorbikers helps strengthen the core and enhance stability and control on the bike.

At the Studio there is Pilates for Post-Natal, which is designed to support expectant and new mums through gentle, effective exercises. Each class is crafted to ensure participants achieve their fitness goals with precision and enjoyment.

SPECIALISED CLASSES

Pre Natal Pilates

Congratulations on your pregnancy 💛

If you're already a member of the studio, we usually encourage you to continue enjoying your regular classes until around 30 weeks' pregnancy, provided you feel comfortable and your pregnancy is progressing well.

As your bump grows, many mums appreciate a little more space, more individual guidance and the opportunity to exercise alongside other expectant mums. From around 30 weeks, you're invited to join our small Saturday Pregnancy Pilates group, where there are usually just two or three mums in each session.

These classes are designed specifically for the final weeks of pregnancy, giving you the freedom to move at your own pace in a calm, supportive environment. Every exercise is tailored to your changing body, with plenty of time for individual guidance, preparation for birth and discussion of the physical changes you're experiencing as your due date approaches.

Post natal Pilates

Congratulations on your little one! 💛

Choosing the right postnatal class is an important decision. Rather than me telling you what to expect, I asked two of the mums who attend the classes to share their own experience.

"As a new mum, finding time to prioritise myself isn't always easy, which is why this class is brilliant. I can bring my baby along, so I don't need childcare to invest in my own recovery.

The class has helped me rebuild my core and pelvic floor, improve my posture, restore my strength and feel confident in my body again after pregnancy and birth.

Every class is tailored to my own stage of recovery, with exercises adapted to suit my needs. My baby stays by my side throughout the session and, if they need feeding, changing or a cuddle, that's simply part of the class. There's no expectation for babies to sleep or be settled, just an understanding that motherhood and recovery go hand in hand.

I always leave feeling stronger, supported and ready for whatever the rest of the day brings.

Alison often reminds us that, as we embark on the exciting journey of motherhood, it's essential to prioritise our own health and wellbeing. I completely agree. The classes offer a gentle but effective way to rebuild strength, improve flexibility and reconnect with my core and pelvic floor.

Each session combines gentle core exercises, targeted movements and breathing techniques that have really helped restore my strength and posture.”

"I didn't do the postnatal class with the previous instructor, but I definitely feel that, now it's found its groove, it's become a really challenging and adaptable class.

The best part is that we can bring the babies along and get them involved whenever we need to. C absolutely adores getting to join me on the Reformer! When she was really little, it even became extra-hard tummy time for her.

It's a lovely balance of doing something for myself while still sharing the experience with my baby."

Pilates for older adults

As we age, maintaining strength is important. This session focuses on improving balance, flexibility, and strength in a safe and supportive environment. If you think it will be too challenging, don’t worry; I can modify everything to suit your individual needs.

Pilates for CORE AND PELVIC FLOOR

It can be difficult to re-connect with our bodies after childbirth.  Even more so if issues like diastasis, prolapse or incontinence are still with us several months, or even years, after.   You may have been advised to keep doing pelvic floor exercises, even though they don't seem to be helping.  Maybe you've tried all the 'quick fixes' on instagram? Or perhaps you've been told to just put up with it as it's part of becoming a mother, or that the only way to improve is to have surgery.

SPECIALIST CLASSES FOR SPORTS

Pilates helped me hold my posture while running, initially short runs, then up to a few marathons.  I believe through Pilates we can build our core strength to keep ourselves standing tall and strong while we run.  And that is exactly what we do in this class.  Help everyone to strengthen the muscles used in running, improving flexibility, and preventing injuries. Classes include exercises that enhance core stability, leg strength, and overall body balance. Whether you’re training for a marathon or enjoy casual jogging, this class will support your running performance.

pilates for Motorbiking

This class is designed to help motorcyclists strengthen their core, enhancing stability and control on the bike. Pilates, both reformer and mat, focuses on core strength, flexibility, and balance—key elements for safe and efficient riding. A strong core reduces the risk of injury, improves posture, and supports long hours on the bike by alleviating strain on the back and shoulders.
